Testosterone primarily influences the growth and development of male-specific organs and physical traits. Additionally, it affects sex drive, muscle density, energy levels, and metabolism. Low testosterone levels are associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome, all of which can impact your longevity.
Low testosterone can manifest in various ways, including fatigue, reduced sex drive, erectile dysfunction, mood swings, depression, and reduced muscle mass. If you experience these symptoms, particularly if you're over 30, a blood test can determine your testosterone levels.
For first-time patients, the blood work requisition is sent within 24 hours of signing up.
For follow-up blood work, requisitions are emailed within 24 hours of your subscription renewal, which occurs 85 days after your last renewal.
Blood work should be completed in the morning, before 10 a.m., to get the most accurate readings of your testosterone levels.

If you are on topical treatment: complete blood work 2-3 hours following application
If you are on injections: complete blood work 71-75 hours post injection.
The sign-up fee is divided into $50 for blood work and eligibility assessment and $150 for consultation if eligible. This way, you are only paying full price if treatment will be prescribed. All follow up blood work and consultations are grouped together and charged as $200 quarterly.
While Science & Humans is committed to delivering effective treatment plans, individual results may vary, and treatment eligibility cannot be guaranteed. Testosterone will be prescribed based on medical necessity.
Follow-ups are conducted virtually every three months and include blood work and a consultation to review your progress and adjust treatment as needed. As your three-month mark approaches, we will renew your subscription and send you a blood work requisition via email. After receiving your results, you can schedule a consultation to discuss your findings, any side effects, and any necessary dosage adjustments.
If you need assistance before your scheduled follow-up, you can reach out to our support team, who can contact your prescriber on your behalf to address any questions. Alternatively, you may schedule an interim consultation with your clinician before your next follow-up. Please be aware that a $100 fee applies to interim appointments.
Science & Humans offers hormone replacement therapy in many different forms including injections or topicals. Route of administration will be discussed during the first time appointment with the clinician based upon blood work analysis, symptoms, and lifestyle. Please note, preference will be accounted for, however, the final decision will be based upon the practitioner’s recommendation.
Although many men prefer injections, if you are not comfortable with self-injecting, there are other options available. Science & Humans can prescribe topical treatment to be applied to the chest once daily. There is also a pill option available.
Medications prescribed under our HRT program can reduce fertility by suppressing LH and FSH, hormones crucial for stimulating sperm production. This suppression can lead to decreased spermatogenesis. However, if you have low testosterone levels and wish to preserve fertility, alternative options are available, such as monotherapy, which helps stimulate LH production.

Blood work completion depends on menstrual cycles.
If you have a regular cycle: blood draw between day 19-21
If you have no cycle for 1+ year: blood draw anytime
If you have an irregular cycle or have had a cycle in the past year: aim to blood draw between day 19-21. This may require going back to your last menstrual cycle and counting days.
Blood work needs to be completed in the morning following a 12 hour overnight fast.
Menopause marks the transition from full ovarian function to the end of ovulation, defined medically as twelve months after the final menstrual period. This journey involves three stages: perimenopause, starting around age 45 with symptoms like irregular periods and hot flashes; menopause, beginning twelve months after the last period, with symptoms often continuing; and postmenopause, typically around age 60 but sometimes extending into the late 60s. Despite its challenges, menopause is a natural phase that can be managed with proper care and support.
Menopause symptoms can be managed with hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which involves supplementing your body with key hormones to alleviate symptoms and restore balance.
Common symptoms of menopause include irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and more. If you experience these symptoms, it might be an indication that you are going through menopause. During perimenopause, periods will begin to be irregular and spaced apart. Menopause is defined as the absence of menstrual periods for 12 consecutive months.
Treatment for menopause symptoms can vary depending on their severity and individual health needs. At its core, menopause involves hormone fluctuations that can cause significant discomfort. For those experiencing severe symptoms, rebalancing hormone levels through hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be effective. HRT medications come in various forms like pills, patches, and creams, offering flexibility to suit different lifestyles.
Alternatively, non-hormonal medications tailored to specific symptoms can provide relief for those with milder symptoms or who cannot use hormonal options due to allergies or other reasons. Additionally, supplements and vitamins may complement treatment by supporting overall well-being, such as enhancing energy levels and improving sleep quality.
To explore the most suitable treatment options for your symptoms and lifestyle, consider consulting with a healthcare practitioner on our platform, trained in menopause management.

While HRT can increase the risk of blood clots, bio-identical hormones are considered to have a lower risk compared to synthetic hormones. The pros of bHRT far outweigh the risks as long as treatment is started as soon as possible.
